Is The Itch Caused By Scabies Or Lice?

Itching can be caused by numerous problems. An itchy scalp my be due to dandruff. An itchy body may be due to dry skin. There are also itchy rashes such as hives, eczema and chicken pox. But one cause of itching that no one wants to consider is lice or scabies. But this is always a possibility so it’s important that you learn how to recognize the signs of these tiny intruders.

Lice

Head lice are tiny bugs that live on the skin that covers the head. These tiny bugs are spread easily from person to person through close contact. Young schoolchildren are often a target for lice because they play together in close quarters.

Lice can live for up to thirty days on the head of a human. During this thirty days, the female louse can lay about 4 eggs per day or approximately eigthy-eight eggs during her lifetime. The eggs are laid in the hair shaft. The hair behind the ears and at the base of the neck are common places for the eggs to be found.

A further insightful element around this topic area. These tiny creatures are very hard to see. It’s best to have a bright light shining on the head or be in direct sunlight. Part the hair down to the scalp and look closely. You’ll be looking for moving lice and eggs. Lice have flat bodies that are brown or gray in color. They don’t have wings, and they can’t jump. The eggs of the louse look like tiny white specks that cling to the hair shaft.

Scabies

Scabies is an infectious skin disease that’s caused by a tiny mite. These mites are easily spread by direct contact with infected individuals. The most common places for scabies outbreaks are nursing facilities, child-care centers and nursing homes.

The tiny mites that are responsible for scabies burrow beneath the skin and lay eggs. The burrow resembles a tiny pencil mark. Once the mites burrow under the skin the body can react to their presence by producing a rash with intense itching. The most common areas for the rash and itch are between the fingers, on the hands, wrists, abdomen and genitals.

The good news is there are usually no serious complications from lice or scabies. There are treatments available that can eliminate lice and scabies from your body. Lice treatments can be purchased over the counter.

Treatment for scabies is a prescription cream that’s applied to the entire body. Family members should be treated also. All clothing, including sleepwear should be washed in very hot water. The furniture and all carpets need to be vacuumed thoroughly.

Intense itching can be caused by lice or scabies. If you or members of your family are itching a lot and have a rash, it’s important that get a correct diagnosis so treatment can be started.

My vagina is really itchy!! ? It's itchy around the lip area…I don't know what's wrong! I've been trying to sleep but sudden sharp itches just keeps happening. I'm on my period right now so I obviously can't see any discharges and I'm also a virgin!

I agree. If you've shaved, that will make you itch. If not, you may need to see a physician. It could either be bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection. Both need to be treated. The reason you need to see your doctor is to determine which one it’s because they’re treated in very different ways. Vaginosis is treated with antibiotics and a yeast infection is treated with anti fungals. Neither of these treatments will work on the other condition. It sounds like you’re catching it early, but both of these conditions will get much worse if you don't get them treated. Best of luck, Karen

I’ve a bump near my vagina, sometimes it is itchy. Sometimes this. Since you’ve never had sex, it is unlikely that this is anything serious. You said it was.

Do you shave it? Have you shaved recently? If so that's normal

It's normal; I'm sure every women gets a “itchy” vagina at times. It could be the pad, tampon, laundry detergent you're using. In the mean time, use a anti-itch feminine cream.

Are you sexually active? It can be crabs but thats kind of rare. What i had was a yeast infection which is NOT std and completely curable. U can get it from your body creating too much yeast. Ive had it and my vagina was VERY itchy. Have u had some discharge? Go to the doctor :)

Oh dear… Is he free from std's? Maybe you have a rash from shaving? (if you did?) if the itching persists i would recommend seeing a doctor. Try to not scratch :)

Part of what the hair does is keep the skin from drying out. After you shave, you need to moisturize, daily if practical. Otherwise the skin drys out, gets itchy and so on. So shave again to get rid of the stubble, and this time use some lotion on your skin.

It can be from not keeping it clean. After i pee i always get a baby wipe and i wipe myself. Or if you have shaved, this can also cause itching. Or if it’s some kind of infection (not necessarily a yeast infecting) you should to the clinic and see if you can get prescription lotion. So, i suggest after you pee use baby wipes. This really does help and you feel clean. Change your underwear every night.

You probably should've gone to the doctor last night. Chances are it’s an infection of some sort, not necessarily an STD, but probably. It doesn't really mater how many people you've had sex with if it's only 2, it maters how many they’ve had sex with at that point.

mstin744

That exact thing happened to me! It’s still going on! They’re itchy, but i think its normal, since it happened to me 2!
