Prevention of bacterial vaginosis is something that all women should keep in mind. Millions of women are plagued with this infection and trying to eliminate it but how about the prevention of it.
The first step in the prevention of bacterial vaginosis is in understanding what it’s and what causes it. This infection is caused from the bacteria flourishing in the vagina and taking over. There has to be more than one type of bacteria present for BV to be present. Researchers aren’t exactly sure why this happens. There are 2 types of bacteria the first is the type that needs oxygen to grow and the other flourishes when there is no oxygen present. It’s though that the type of bacteria that flourishes when no oxygen is present is the one that causes the symptoms so embarrassing to inflicted women.
This is often a very important piece of this specific subject matter. Prevention of bacterial vaginosis is not as hard as many women would think. As soon as a women has more discharge than usual and is accompanied by a foul order is usually a great indication that one has bv. A trip to the physician with a quick test will let you know if this is bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection. If it’s indeed bacterial vaginosis then let’s look at the ways to prevent it.

Prevention of bacterial vaginosis begins with learning to wipe from front to back when using the bathroom. What happens when you wipe from the back to front is you’re putting waste matter in the vaginal area. This can cause E. Coli from bowel movements to enter the vagina thus causing an infection.
Another great move in this prevention is to never douche unless its natural ingredients. The vagina is made up of an ecosystem that works to keep the vagina healthy. When women douche they’re interrupting the natural ecosystem and allowing the “bad” bacteria to breed and probably killing off the good bacteria. If one must douche then try to douche with natural products. Another prevention of bacterial vaginosis is to douche with natural yogurt. This places the good bacteria back into the body helping to prevent this form of infection and relapses.
Prevention of bv can be maintained by washing with antibacterial soap before and after sexual intercourse; after washing be sure to rinse and dry well. If not drying well then you’re just opening up a breeding ground for another relapse.
There are many ideas for the prevention of bacterial vaginosis available and all are easy to apply to everyday living. An ounce of prevention will save so much frustration, time and expense.

I keep getting this yellowish green discharge. What is this? A few months back I had an issue with bacterial vaginosis. I went to the gyno and took some med's and it went away. It came back right before my period and I went to the gyno again. She gave me med's and told me to start taking probiotics (she told me what to look for in them) and once I was off my period to start taking a product called rephresh. My bacterial vaginosis went away and hasn't been back since that doctor visit however, once I was off my period I noticed alot of itching and watery discharge and figured it was a yeast infection. I didn’t bother treating the yeast infection because the symptoms started to go away before I was even able to buy treatment for it. A few weeks later I noticed a white cottage cheese discharge and itching again. Agian, I left it alone because when I took rephresh (not to treat the yeast infection but just for my bacterial vaginosis prevention) it just went away again. The other day I noticed a greenish yellow cottage cheese-like discharge but very very very mild itching. I was recently tested for Chlamydia and gonorrhea two months ago in which the tests came back negative so I know I don’t have an STD. Why is this happening and what is this from???? I’m sick and tired of going back and forth to the doctor because I’ve no insurance and have spent so much money already that I can’t afford.

Go back to the Doctor yellowish green discharge is a sign of an infection.
The only thing I’ve found that works is a product called FemDophilus by Jarrow Formulas, however it’s not supposed to be used as treatment, but as prevention. This is an acidolphilus combination that has the proper strands needed to maintain a healthy ph. Regular acidophilus (like in yogurt) doesn’t provide the proper strands to colinate in the vagina. While it does help boost the amount, they’ll not stay and colonize there. The best thing to do is to go to the gyno and get medication and you’ll be prescribed an antibiotic, which can cause yeast infections. The yeast infection can be treated after the antibiotics are finished. I wouldn't try any home remidies before consulting a doctor, it could cause more harm than good.
Well if you’re using a pad then it wuill smell if you have your period but if you switch to tampons t won't smell and if you don't have your period then you should probably wash your pubic hair with soap or shampoo so it don't smell hope i helped
Its possible she may have a urinary or uterine infection, have her examined by a vet.
Some women find that eating yogurt daily helps to prevent these infections. (especially if you take antibiotics often, thus killing the healthy bateria and allowing for an overgrowth of yeast.)
