Why Does My Vagina Smell Bad & What Can I Do About It?

Why does my vagina smell bad? What can I do about it? If these are the questions that are haunting you every now and then, you must have a certain type of vaginal infection. One common vaginal infection that can cause symptoms including foul smell coming from the vagina itself is bacterial vaginosis (BV). This health complication is the result of the disruption of balance among bacteria that live in a woman’s private part. Your vagina smells bad because the bad bacteria have outgrown the good bacteria. So how can you solve that dilemma? There are some things that you should do.

If bacterial vaginosis is the answer to your question, “Why does my vagina smell bad?”, here are 4 of the things that you can do about it:

• Consult a health care professional. Bacterial vaginosis is a serious condition that needs to be taken care of especially if that condition of yours is causing painful and troublesome symptoms such as pain, itching, discharge, burning and of course that foul smell. If you still have some questions regarding the said infection, your doctor can help clarify things for you. S/he’ll also help you in finding some effective treatment options for BV and different ways in relieving the symptoms that the infection brings.

Be sure to study this content very carefully, the challenge and the plans have many differences. • Use Metronidazole or Metrogel and other prescribed antibiotics. Your health care professional will recommend and prescribe a certain antibiotic that you can use to ease the painful symptoms of bacterial vaginosis and perhaps try to get rid of that infection completely. One of the most common prescribed antibiotics for BV is none other than Metronidazole, which you can take orally. The Metrogel, on the other hand, is the gel form of Metronidazole. You can use either forms and that will depend on what your doctor tells you. Other antibiotics prescribed for BV treatment include Clindamycin, Tinidazole, Ampicillin and Tetracycline.

Broadcast Yourself.

The use of yogurt, tea tree oil and apple cider vinegar has been recommended by a lot of people to women suffering from bacterial vaginosis. Some ladies eat 2 cups of yogurt daily. The other way for you to use yogurt tin order to help relieve BV symptoms is by inserting probiotics yogurt inside your vagina. Do not forget to do that with a tampon. Apple cider vinegar can also be helpful since it’s known to reduce toxins that can promote bacterial vaginosis. Same is true with tea tree oil.

• don’t have sex especially when you’re currently treating the infection. Why does my vagina smell bad? It is probably because of bacterial vaginosis. While you’re currently healing that infection and relieving its symptoms, you shouldn’t engage in any sexual activity because your efforts will be wasted. Wait until BV is completely treated. Learn to abstain from sex as you wait for the results.

Aside from the ones mentioned, there are other things that you can do to get rid of that fish-like vaginal odor and BV all in all. It only takes a little research and understanding. Expand your knowledge so you’ll have the right ideas on what to do.

@Lee: Shut up. Everyone has body odor from time to time. I didn't have an odor issue until I switched birth controls. But I found that getting one of those poofy sponge things and scrubbing with the St.Ives stuff (it's like oatmeal and shea butter or something, it's in a bottle with an orange label and the stuff itself is creamy colored) and warm water in the shower works great. Or take a bubble bath using that stuff and let it soak in. Using the showerhead to wash out “down there” helps a lot. Good luck!!

Semen doesnt really change the vaginal odor itself, but rather adds to what's already there. Female genitals have a natural odor that's healthy and varies very widely prob w/ no 2 females w/ the same.

Im some girls it just turns out that your hooch will smell like anything overly pungent that you eat. I used to know a girl that couldn't eat long john silvers cause it made her smell so badly of fish her boyfriend called her chumbucket after eating there once. A quick glance through websites about hiv didn’t reveal any information about onion smelling vagina being a sign of the disease. I think you're safe.
